Heraniau 2011

The Heraniau Nurse Aid Post was our very first location situated on the island of San Cristobal in the Makira Province. This is where we set our precedent for what would become a long term relationship with the people of the Solomon Islands through care and ongoing development.

In our first year we installed the ablutions block giving much needed sanitation and shower facilities for birthing mothers. The staff houses and Aid Post were fully refurbished. It was all hands on deck for a great result.

Our first visit in March 2011 saw 1300 people converge on the Aid Post.
1000 consulted for chiropractic care. Another 300 consulted for Bakua Tinea and other medication.

A few tokens of the natural beauty experienced in this still pristine part of our world.

People are the reason we are there. The photos say it all!

The team had the full travel experience - boat, plane, car, truck, helicopter, ocean, rivers and swamps.
Challenge and adventure were key ingredients for memorable times.

Water Supply

This is the initial review of the water supply to Heraniau Village and Aid Post. It was in dire need of upgrade.
The photos in Heraniau 2012 Gallery show the full install of the new water supply.
